If you are looking to try a new fishing venue in Norfolk, why not pay Billingford a visit? Located in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside this disused quarry has 3 well stocked lakes of 7, 12 and 15 acres and 1 mile of the River Wensum. Despite being in existence for 20 years the lakes have rarely been fished, allowing wild Carp stocks to flourish. Most have never been caught, providing a real challenge for the keen angler. For details of the latest catches visit Why Norfolk.
Lakes
The lakes each have shallow marginal shelves with depths of 8ft-12ft of water out from the bank to a 30 yard cast. Species include Roach, Perch, Eels, Pike, Tench, Bream and in the 1st lake (closest to the Wardens Office & Toilets on left hand side of the below map) is a prolific head of Common and Mirror Carp in the 10-25lb bracket, although some 30lb+ specimens have recently been reported. Another of the lakes is specially designated for fly fishing and is well stocked with both Brown & Rainbow Trout and also some coarse fish that will take the fly.
River
Our 1 mile stretch of fast flowing river Wensum ranges in depth from 2ft-6ft. Chubb in the 3-5lb range are most prolific and full to free lining or light ledgering tactic during the summer months. Also to be found is Dace, Trout, Pike, Roach and Barbel.
